Police: Man Charged Ran From Ambulance
FRIENDSWOOD — Police are attempting to obtain an evading arrest warrant against a man who was jailed, complained of chest pains and then left an ambulance en route to a hospital, authorities said Monday.
Bond for the man, 40, still was pending Monday on the charge from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Friendswood police said.
The man was jailed in Friendswood on a disorderly conduct charge. He complained of chest pains, was issued a citation and released to an ambulance crew. He then demanded the ambulance stop at FM 528 and West Bay Area Boulevard. The man was arrested at Bay Park Drive after a quarter-mile run, police said.

Inmate’s Death Believed To Be Of Natural Causes
GALVESTON — Investigators are probing the Monday death of a Galveston County Jail inmate who was believed to have died of natural causes, authorities said.
Vernon D. Puckett, 49, who was awaiting trial on a felony assault charge, was on suicide watch in a medical room and last seen alive at 3:40 p.m. He was found on the floor 15 minutes later. Attempts to revive him failed, authorities said.
The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to attempt to learn his cause of death.

Man Charged In Child Sexual Assault
TEXAS CITY — Police arrested a man accused of having sex with a child, authorities said Monday.
Bond for Salomon Rivas, 37, of Texas City, was set at $40,000 after his Saturday arrest in the 8800 block of Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, stemming from an incident reported Aug. 4, Texas City police said.

Man Charged In Stabbing
TEXAS CITY — Police arrested a Texas City man after finding him two blocks from a stabbing victim, authorities said Monday.
Bond for Silas Jerome Leach, 37, was set at $150,000 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from a 12:55 a.m. Saturday incident in the 8500 block of Monticello Drive, Texas City police said.
Henry Hawkins, 27, suffered a one-inch knife wound to his upper right arm, but his injuries weren’t considered life-threatening, police said.

Woman Accused Of Stabbing Boyfriend
TEXAS CITY — A domestic disturbance left one man suffering multiple knife wounds, and police arrested his girlfriend after she called 911, authorities said Monday.
Bond for Kimberly Monique Roberts, 36, was set at $100,000 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from a 1:56 a.m. Saturday incident in the 5100 block of Timothy Lane, Texas City police said.
A medical helicopter flew Lionel Harris, 40, to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. The hospital didn’t list him as a patient Monday.

Two Men Rob Seawall Restaurant
GALVESTON — Two men armed with a handgun robbed a fast-food restaurant of $700, but no injuries were reported, authorities said Monday.
The men entered Jack in the Box, 923 Seawall Blvd., at 1:51 a.m. Saturday, Galveston police said. There were no reports of arrests.

National Night Out Observed Tonight
Communities throughout Galveston County are observing National Night Out today.
The nationwide program, which is celebrated in August, has an alternate date for the state of Texas.
The program enhances awareness of heightened crime and drug prevention. It also is intended to generate support in anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and foster partnerships between police and communities.

Man Accused In Museum Burglary
GALVESTON — Police responding to a burglar alarm at the Lone Star Flight Museum arrested a man, authorities said.
Bond for Eric Jay Williams, 25, of Galveston, was set at $5,000 on a charge of burglary after an 11:29 p.m. Sunday incident at the museum, 2002 Terminal Drive.
Officers found no forced entry to the building, and nothing was reported missing, according to a police report released Monday.
